Quaranzine #99 (2020)

“QUARANZINE #99: Steven Montinar. Steven and I were introduced to each other over email a couple weeks ago by Susanne Slavick, who has now enabled three issues for this project without having produced one of her own. What a gift to young artists (and middle-age ones) Susanne is! I spent what felt like an eternity in the life of this project (actually about 17 days) looking over examples of Steven’s work on various web platforms, thinking about what might translate most successfully for this project. Steven works in a wide range of mediums, exhibiting obvious thought, skill, and boldness in all of them. Ultimately I felt like his poetry was the way to go and he liked my selections from a larger pool of possibilities. It seemed right to give the second to last issue of QUARANZINE to an artist I’ve never met before, but who I really hope to meet in the future one day.” - Marc Fischer, Public Collectors Administrator
